The Tangletown Name
Why is our farm named Tangletown Farm?
The most important reason is that Tangletown is the local name for Middlesex, our town. Hunters would get lost in the woods here, and so they started calling Middlesex Tangletown. There is even a road called Tangletown Road, and some of the land we lease comes up to that road. When we were going about naming our farm, we did a lot of research looking for something that ties our farm to the history of the land. At the time Lila was a teacher at the Middlesex Elementary School, and a fellow teacher was speaking about hunting one day, and how her husband was going up through Tangletown. The name fit. We have such an array of animals that our farm is a tangletown! There are always children, chickens, pigs, turkeys, visitors and everything else all over the place here. The name fits the amount of vibrance and activity we always have going on.
