Packages

 

 

How much meat people eat varies a lot.   We have loosely based our

packages to be that the smaller shares will feed two adults well and the

larger shares will feed families of about five people well.  Some whole

families may only need a small share while some single adults may want a

large share so that freezing the meat is possible. The full share CSA is based

on about $35/week of food.  We do accept Custom Packages and will work

with you to create your own.  You are also welcome to purchase a la carte, as

you need it and based on our availability.   Call or email and we can set up

time for you to come to the farm and pick up, or meet us at a Farmer's Market. 

 

Again, CSA means Community Supported Agriculture, or buying directly from the farmer.  It is a great way to support local, sustainable agriculture.

#1: $200 Easy Share:

Available year round. When you join is when you begin. Join anytime, and receive four months worth of a great variety of meats. You will receive one order per month, which will be about a $50 value.

#2: 6 Chicken Share: $125

Available Year Round.

6 chickens, or about 25-30 pounds of meat. The chickens range from 4-5 pounds. They are the juciest, most flavorful chicken you will ever find. They are completely free range, roaming far and wide during the day. You may order as many shares as you like.

#3: 6 Rabbit Share: $165 Also Available Year Round:

6 rabbits, or about 18-20 lbs of meat. Rabbits range from 2-4 lbs. Our Rabbits eat the most brilliant diet of grasses, legumes and grains. In the winter they eat organic hay and organic homegrown veggies from our gardens, as well as their all natural grains. You may order as many shares as you like.

Package #4: Winter Stock-Your-Freezer Package: $600 Or Half Stock-up, $350 One Time Pick-up Just before Thanksgiving: 

1 Thanksgiving Turkey 

30 pounds variety beef and pork-let us know if you would like nitrate free bacon or an Easter Ham.

20 pounds of variety poultry and game (chicken, rabbit, duck, guinea hen, pheasant -you may not receive all the poultry selections but a good variety will be provided)

1 dozen eggs

#5 Full Share CSA, $750  or 1/2 share, $400 .

Pick-up every other week from July through October. 10 orders total.

The total CSA Includes:

Organic eggs, chicken, rabbit, duck, pheasant, guinea hen, beef and pork. Amazing, delicious, summertime grilling meat is included. You receive about $70 worth of meat with each pick-up.

Some folks last year said they received so much meat from their CSA it lasted well into the winter!

 

Specialty Meat and Veggie Share: Third week of July- Third week of October: $775 See below for 1/2 share, $425

This CSA is similar to the meat CSA above: Organic eggs, chicken, rabbit, duck, pheasant, guinea hen, beef and pork. Great grilling meat is included. You receive $70 worth of meat and vegetables with each pick-up. We are partnering with two local growers. This will be a share that includes a variety of: specialty greens, head lettuce, and micros. Herbs. Heirloom tomatoes, Eggplant, peppers, artichokes, baby summer squashes, kale, brussels, chard, hericot vert, spinach,leeks,melons, and winter squash. Potatoes, carrots, beets, onions, garlic, shallot as well.

This is NOT a bulk meat and Veggie share- It IS a fine meat and vegetable share- delicious and beautiful.

 



  Followng is more general information about how are animals are fed and cared for, about CSA packages and how much people generally eat, and then a bit more specific information about the packages.

 

 

Our animals are fed on organic pastures and in winter are fed organic hay.  The amount of nutrition they get from the land (and put back into it) is hugely beneficial to their bodies and their entire lifestyles.  We supplement the organic pasture with either 100% organic or high quality hormone and antibiotic free grains.  All of the animals are treated with the extra care that a small family farm can offer. This is the most important part of our farm. The animals are happy, healthy, nutritious and absolutely delicious!  
 

 

All of our packages are planned carefully to ensure that everything included can be simply prepared. We always have menu and preparation suggestions to make the cooking fun!  It is important that all of the meat we sell is eaten and enjoyed.

 

 
The Packages:

We offer a few different packages, including an a la carte option.  See below for the details of each package.  

PRICES LISTED BELOW ARE BASED ON CONVENTIONALLY FED PRODUCTS.  

 


 

 

 


Package #1:  The $200 Easy Share.   Available year round.  When you join is when you begin.  Join anytime, and receive four months worth of a great variety of meats.  You will receive one order per month, which will be about a $50 value.  

 

Package #2:  6 Chicken Share, Also available year round:             $125

6 chickens, or about 35 pounds of meat.  The chickens range from 4-5 pounds, averging about 4.5lbs. These chickens are larger and more tender than the chickens you'll find at the store.  This is because they are out on the pasture from the first day we have them.  Our chickens are completely free range!  They have a barn to be safe in at night but during the day they roam farm and wide.  They are the juciest, most flavorful chicken you will ever find.  We have had people say ours is the best chicken they have ever tasted, and we agree.  You may order as many shares as you like. We sell out quickly, so order soon!

 

Package #3: 6 Rabbit Share:  Also  Available Year Round:  $ 165

Package #6: Half Share CSA July-October: $375

Basically speaks for itself, half of full share CSA.  Five orders spread throughout July-October

 

Package #7: Specialty Meat and Veggie Share:  Third week of July- Third week of October: $775  See below for 1/2 share, $425

This CSA is similar to the meat CSA above: Organic eggs, chicken, rabbit, duck, pheaant, guinea hen, beef and pork.  Great summertime grilling meat is included.  You receive about $70 worth of meat and vegetables with each pick-up. This is a specialty veggie share.  We are partnering with two local growers, Jillian Abraham of Small Steps Farm and Alan LaPage of LaPage farm.  This will be a share that includes a variety of:  specialty greens, headlettuce, and micros.  Herbs.  Heirloom tomatoes, Eggplant, peppers, artichokes, baby summer squashes, kale, brussels, chard, hericot vert, spinach, leeks,melons, and winter squash. Potatoes, carrots, beets, onions, garlic, shallot as well. 

We will be offering vegetaables that compliment the meats you receive each week, as much a we can based on availability and cooperative weather.  We will be offering chioces that are beautiful on the plate and delicious to eat, rather than a large amount of weighty vegetables, like order after order of bulk veggie items.   

 

 

 

A LA CARTE: 

We offer all of our meat by the pound and by the each.  Check out our Prices page and then call or email to order.   We can bring a la carte orders to the CSA pick-ups as well.

 

We are also raising Heritage Breed Turkeys!  We are very excited about this.  They are an original breed dating back to the 1800's.  They are hearty and rich tasting.  They average about 13lbs dressed weight

We are also offering Rabbit!  They are 100% pasture based and produce a very lean, flavorful and nutritious meat.  Some say that Rabbit is the new chicken. 

 

NEW THIS YEAR:

We are also offering BOER MEAT GOAT and LAMB!  They also are 100% pasture based.  We are purchasing the kids from a veterinarian in Vermont  who raises them as a hobby.  This way they are given the proper beginning to thier life, with the proper amount of colostrum and time with thier mothers.  We are very fortunate to have made this connection, as we are committed to parterning with local farmers and to the ethical treatment of all animals, from beginning to end. We are offering whole, half or quarters.  We will also be selling these by the pound at the Montpelier, Burlington and Waterbury Farmers Markets.

We want you to be more than happy with your order.  If there are certain cuts of beef and pork that you especially love, let us know!  We do take substitutions.  We want you to have what you need and enjoy it all.
